More Faith!

October 4, 2026

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].”Hebrews 11:1 AMP

The Fall season is here; we may not readily notice it, but all around us in the Midwest of the USA, I can see the deep green color of the trees fading, and the fullness they had in July is almost gone. Just as there are seasons in nature, there are seasons of life: seasons of achievement/growth, challenges, seasons of rest, a holding pattern, or times when we feel like we are moving in/out of a season. All these seasons of life require faith.

Why another Lesson on Faith?

As believers, we must live and move in faith as a lifestyle.  We do this by holding on to the revelation of the work of the Cross and our victory in Christ Jesus (Galatians 2:20). Let the constant entrance of the Word be our guide (Psalm 119:130). Trust God for all our needs (Philippians 4:19). Walk in love, as faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). Don’t be moved by what we see; keep an eternal outlook, since what we see is temporal and subject to change (2 Corinthians 4:18).

Ask yourself what your current personal faith project(s) is. Take it to the next level, do intentional discipleship, and get your family involved. Teach your children how to believe God and exercise their faith too. The Prophet Samuel was only around 12 years old when God called him.

Don’t give in to the Pressure!

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 CEV says, “We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again.”

Some people are experiencing immense pressure these days, and the witness of God’s love and the encouragement of a faith life can bless you and those around you. Where we live, we just came out of over two weeks without power (storm), loss of food, property damage, post-clean-up repairs, all unbudgeted and unanticipated during a season of accelerated inflation.  But God is always faithful, and we are conquerors.   See, for the believer, we cannot be moved by what we see; we must continually work our faith now and always.  It is not an option.

The Word of God!

Roman 10:17  “So then Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

Hearing/studying/meditating the Word of God constantly is so important.  I like the following quote by Bishop David Oyedepo: “God only confirms the words we receive and believe – not just what we write down.”

Also, each generation receives revelation and instruction from the past and current generation, like in Hebrews 11’s Hall of Faith heroes and those of earlier times in history/our lives.  Like my mom, who always says, “Everything is going to totally be alright, just trust Jesus,” And could be heard this morning at 4 am saying, “I’m not tired yet, Lord,” at almost 91 years old.

Dr. Lester Sumrall says this about faith in his book Faith Can Change Your World. “Faith is not an illusion, but a tangible, spiritual force that can radically alter your circumstances.”  He was a mentee of one of the Generals of Faith, Smith Wigglesworth, who said, “Read the Word. Consume the Word until it consumes you. Believe the Word. Act on the Word.”

Or the powerful teachings on Dominion and others that teach us how to apply biblical principles to everyday life. Or just a Faith Refresher, as we call it at my church. That’s why we need another teaching on faith; the times we live in now and until Jesus comes back require it.

Know you’re the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!

Roman 5: 1-5 TLB “So now, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. 4 And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady. 5 Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

Do you see what the text is telling us? We are made righteous, no guilt, no shame, no work on our part, just receiving by faith and believing.

Lord, increase our Faith.

Luke 17:5-6 TLB “One day the apostles said to the Lord, “We need more faith; tell us how to get it.” “If your faith were only the size of a mustard seed,” Jesus answered, “it would be large enough to uproot that mulberry tree over there and send it hurtling into the sea! Your command would bring immediate results!”

Faith works when you work it.  I mentioned the storm in our region; our parents home has/had several trees, especially in the backyard; well, the storm destroyed them all except one.  I heard someone saying, ” Well, just call the insurance company.  We did the insurance does not pay for tree cutting or removal, nor does the city on private property.  So, we prayed and started requesting quotes for the project.  The best quote came in at $4,000. I said, “Lord, you heard that; what are you going to do?”  For me, Faith is trusting in God no matter what. Went home and prayed and wrote down the scriptures we had been confessing, what we are believing for: the process to be smooth, favor, the right vendors for each phase of the project, and everything done in a timely fashion, etc.  We released our faith and, within days, got a text with a number to call for help. Two days later, a couple of guys came to assess the job. Then, two days later, a team of Christian volunteers from all over the country showed up at my parents’ house: one team for cutting, one big tractor hauling, and one team cleaning up.  It was a two-day process at the Hallelujah price of FREE!

Faith is trusting in God no matter what; it is always present tense, always active, and expands and strengthens like a muscle as you use it. We must keep pressing into faith, and our relationship with God is vital; the closer, the better. The picture of a cross at the top of the blog was carved out of the stump of one of the damaged trees and left as a memorial for a tree my parents planted over 70 years ago.  But it’s more than that; it shows how faithful our God is and that we can rise above any situation.  We Love You So Much, Lord Jesus!
