Renew Your Mind Again…

Renew Your Mind Again!

The Message for this week will require some effort on our part. I found myself in Romans 12:1-2 as I read in the book of Philippians; you know how you start in one passage, and it leads you somewhere else for clarity and as a cross-reference. Not only was it a cross-reference text, but it awakened my spirit to the fact that my mind needed to be renewed, yes, renewed again!

The Word of God teaches us in Ephesians 4:23AMPC “And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].”  I remember when we were children, and we did something contrary to the rules of the house or just the plain ignorance of youth in operation.  My dad would say, “I know what is wrong with you., Your mind is not right.” A quick course correction with discipline or instruction quickly got us back on track.

As believers, we need the Holy Spirit to help us when our thoughts/thinking/actions do not line up with the Word of God. He will lead us into all truth, as John 16:13 says. He will light our candle and enlighten our darkness, as Psalm 18:28 says.

We all can get caught up in life situations, and unknowingly, sometimes things linger and affect our thinking and actions.  Let’s focus the Word of God on those areas where we are challenged. For example, if fear is griping, you start confessing 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  Every time, a fearful thought occurs. See, we are clean through the Word John 15:3.  We can only have what God wants for us as we think like He thinks, and that’s a process.

Place Your Life Before God

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.

Instead, fix your attention on God.

You’ll be changed from the inside out.

Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.

Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
