Weekly Devotional

Preventive  maintenance is the regular/routine maintenance of things. To keep things running and avoid costly unexpected loss, downtime and expenses.

There are many preventive maintenance tools and programs around.  We have got them for our appliances, our cars… Even health screenings.  There is preventive maintenance for your soul too, if you want to avoid hell the preventive action is to except Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

My dad always said “When you own a house you will always be working inside or outside if not it will fall down on top of your head.” That was his own unique way of teaching us preventive maintenance.

The preventive maintenance tool that I have found to be the most effective is the Word of God. It is not only our instruction guide but it has documented undeniable results.

All we have to do is read it, learn it, hide it in our hearts.  It is like learning our multiplication tables, or the alphabets when we were kids, once we learned them we use them all the time without even thinking about it.

Find, recite specific scriptures for various life  situations as a habit. Read them doing your prayer/devotional time, post them around your house, record and play them while you’re sleeping, just get them in your spirit. So that when life squeezes you the Word of God just automatically comes up and out and addresses the situation and gives you peace at the same time.

For example:

Keep God First – Matthew 6:33 “But seeke ye first the kingdome of God, and his righteousnesse, and all these things shalbe added vnto you.”

Family – Jousha 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; … but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Children – Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children”

Healing – 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Faith – Keep it flowing all the time. Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.”

Protection – Psalms 91 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…

Finances – Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Marriage – Ephesians 5:22-25 “Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing… Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”

Education – Daniel 1:20 “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm”.

You create your own list, many of us already have.  Say something to me that I don’t agree with, the first thing to come out of my mouth is “The devil is a liar”. Preventive maintenance requires you to put the work in up front but the dividends are priceless.💕
