Labor and get some rest!

By the seventh day God had finished his work, and so he rested. Genesis 2:2 CEV

It is useless to get up early and stay up late in order to earn a living. God takes care of his own, even while they sleep. Psalm 127:2 CEV

But God has promised us a Sabbath when we will rest, even though it has not yet come. On that day God’s people will rest from their work, just as God rested from his work. Hebrews 4:9-10 CEV

Depending on where you live the first Monday in September is Labor Day it is a time when we celebrate the workforce and the contributions they have made in this country it is a national holiday. It also signals the unofficial end of summer and our thoughts shift to whatever needs to be done (repairs, supplies, heavier clothes…) for the upcoming winter.  We are always laboring it seems.

Today’s message is take/find some time to rest. The amount of sleep you need varies on your age…, you may feel you just sleep enough to survive or you may feel like beauty must rest.  In 2016 the Center for Disease Control CDC said, “More than a third of American adults are not getting enough sleep on a regular basis.” www.cdc.gov/sleep.

Realize we have to work and we all have many responsibilities but if you are tired and worn out how productive are you.  Do a self-check and see how much sleep/ rest you really get and if you need more make the adjustment. That CDC article was called “A good night’s sleep is critical for good health. Think about that we can all use a siesta.

Example of places to increase time to rest: Add to your support system for example pay someone to do the lawn/shovel snow, shopping, laundry. Dial back TV and social media activity. Shift some of the responsibilities back to where it belongs (you know who/what😃).  Free yourself from all drama and the drama kings/ queens who bring it.  You need emotional rest to.  Tomorrow is a day off for many people start there.  Happy Labor Day.💕
