Keep Pressing On!

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Last week we started talking about the Holy Spirit the third person of the Trinity how he dwells in the Believer. Jesus speaking in John 14:15-17 sum it up well for us “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.

This abiding presence that dwelling in us teaches us how to be conformed into the image of Christ.  See redemption is more than a fire insurance policy that keep you from going to hell, it opens us up a whole new life the moment we believe.  Redemption brings you to the place of sonship, peace with God, authority… positions you in the spiritual reality of being seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. But we must get this revelation in our hearts and act like it.  II Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 2:6

Many years ago, I was sued for religious discrimination on the job. I will spare you the details, but I remember working with my lawyer to fill out a form that asked what your religion is, it was in official setting and my lawyer saw me hesitate she leaned over closed to me and said, “Theresa what are you?” My response was “I am a Christian.” Her response was “Then Write It! That situation shook me to my religious core, but it taught me who I really was the not the man in the mirror, but a speaking spirit made in the image of Christ my King.”  Oh, transformation is a process but the Holy Spirt is with us every step of the way. Romans 12:1-2

The Apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament which includes our opening scripture today said this in Philippians chapter 3 verse 12 -14 “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.

So, let us rejoice today and keep on pressing towards the mark Christ Jesus has pre-ordained for our lives individually and collectively as believers.  Reading assignment for this week is Romans chapter 8. 💕
