I Yield Lord!

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17

That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Deuteronomy 30:20

Heard a powerful message this past week on listing for the voice of God. It was not the title of the message but was the thread that ran through it.   What I received was after you have planned, prayed about a situation, project, gotten scripture… on the matter wait on the voice of God before you move.

It is like a traffic yield sign, which mean you let other road drivers go first.  You do not turn the motor off but you come to a stop look for oncoming traffic before you start moving onto the new road.

In our message today, we want to encourage you to wait on the voice of God before you proceed.  King David found himself in this state when he returned from battle to find his home Ziklag burned to the ground and all the families and all their possessions were taken.  His men spoke of stoning him but he yielded to consult and wait on the Lord 1 Samuel 30: 7-8 says And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

The one thing about the spiritual yield is that while you are waiting on God to speak to you it allows your mind to get right, lets all the distractions, bad decision pass by and even ask questions as King David did, They are like feeder ramps they move us forward into the flow of traffic/life.  This is what waiting on the Lord and taking that yield did for King David I Samuel 30:18 tells us “And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all”.

The yield is not to keep something from us but to make sure that we take the right route, arrive at the destination on time and receive all that God has for us.   Keep praying, thinking, speaking acting on your faith projects but just yield to the voice of God before you move.
