Happy Father’s Day!
“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18
Let’s give thanks today and acknowledge the most incredible father, our Heavenly Father. He is a protector, provider, teacher, friend, and confidant. Everything we need, our heavenly Father is there for us. He even blessed us with a father figure in our earthly dads.
It is Father’s Day in the United States of America, and even though my earthly Father is gone on to be with the Lord, I remember and honor the position he holds in my life. At certain times and situations, I can hear his voice saying don’t do that, or This is how you do that. Or My favorite saying is, “Do what you want but know what you are doing. ”
Fathers look out for and take care of the need of their children; where do you suppose these qualities come from? They are from our Heavenly Father; the love of a father is something special you can’t describe sometimes, but you know it and it is priceless.
Someone might say well, my father wasn’t really in my life, or My father passed away at an early age or recently. Know that you will be ok, for God has and will step in and be all that an earthly father can be and do much more. As the song by Chris Tomlin says about Father God, “You’re a Good Good Father.” 2 Samuel 7:14-15: “I will be a father to him, and he’ll be a son to me. When he does wrong, I’ll discipline him in the usual ways, the pitfalls and obstacles of this mortal life. But I’ll never remove my gracious love from him.” Or Proverbs 4:11-12: “I will guide you in the way of wisdom, and I will lead you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble.”
So, celebrate your Heavenly Father for all He has done for us, and thank the man who holds or stands in that earthly position for you. And do as the fifth commandment says, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Happy Father’s Day. š
