2025: Getting it Together!

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3NIV

We must get up and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to the God who answered me in my day of distress. He has been with me everywhere I have gone.” Genesis 35:3 Holman Version

It’s almost the end of January 2025, and I am still fine-tuning some of the my plans/goals for the year. I have been moving, but as many of us know, movement does not always equal productivity. Guys, I had to stop and restart. Some things are constant in life, like bills and maintaining the infrastructure personally and professionally.

How many people jumped and screamed for joy when the new year 2025 came in and came back down to the same attitude/disposition?  Nothing changed over the last year for some, and for others, things changed our point of view completely.    One person told me last week that there seems not to be enough time, we  both concluded at the end of our conversation that we must use the time we have wisely.  Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”   Plainly stated, run everything by the Lord for approval.

I Have been reading the bios of Christian Businesspersons over the last few weeks. Some got it right the first time they started out. Others had missed attempts, health challenges, divorce, lack of education, loss of loved ones, you name it, but they all persevered and had this one thread in common. The hand of God was there whether they started out in a Christian home, found the Lord Jesus Christ along the way, or, in the case of D. L. Moody, a stipulation was in place with his uncle to go to church every Sunday to get a job.  These things are not a surprise to God. Charles Stanley said, “God has a course mapped out for your life, and all the inadequacies in the world will not change his mind. He will be with you every step of the way.”

Get your emotions and your boundaries in check.

I found out from the Lord that these two things became my bump in the road and kept me from hitting the ground and running, and they affected not only me but others around me.  Hear someone saying Sister Theresa; it’s only January 26th, girl; that is only days into the year.  No, sir, those few days before the Lord jerked the slack out of me were extremely difficult and made me run to the altar.

Emotions: Emotions are a part of who we are, and we are created to be in God’s image and likeness. In Deuteronomy 9:8, Moses shares with the children of Israel how God got angry. Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the crowd in Matthew 9:36, and Paul tells us to grieve not the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 4:30.  Just keep those emotion balanced and know we have help if you need it and seek it. We must persevere in faith. Look at Hebrews 12:1- 2 “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Boundaries: Anna Descher, a mental health writer, defines boundaries this way:” Boundaries are personal limits that individuals set for themselves to protect their own well-being, values, and sense of self within a relationship. They define what a person is comfortable with and what they will not tolerate. A boundary is like an invisible line that separates you from others on an emotional, intellectual, and physical level.”  It is not wise to not have boundaries in place in your life. Jesus gives a clear example of verbal boundaries in Matthew 5:37NIV Jesus says “All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” If you don’t watch it, people will feel entitled and that you are required. We must respect our own boundaries, those of others, and God’s too. They are required in every relationship.

Keep Working!

“Whatever work you do, put yourself into it, as those who are serving not merely other people, but the Lord.” Colossians 3:23 CJB

The Lord says to keep working at it. Don’t fall apart when you hit a bump in the road come to me. I know the plans I have for every area of your life.  Did I not say come let us reason together?  Isaiah1:18-19 The door is always open. Seek me and you will find me when you seek me with your whole heart. Jeremiah 29:13   If you’re stuck, come to me; if you’re angry, come; if you’re dissatisfied with your life, just come; if you don’t understand something, come.  Keep a joyful and grateful heart and keep working.
