Discipline is a Lifestyle

Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 TLB

There is no better example of discipline than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ lets read on in Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

One online definition says, “Discipline provides people with rules to live their lives efficiently and effectively. When you have discipline in your life you can make small sacrifices in the present for a better life in the future.”

This requires that we be consistent too, the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway”. Whether you like it or not you are an example to someone.

Read an article by Chief Master Cleophus Gallon, 422nd Security Forces Squadron senior enlisted leader titled “Discipline, consistency take you places motivation and inconsistency will not.”  He talked about how as a child his grandfather instilled a disciplined mind set in him in the way he worked and had him do his chores. How the discipline lifestyle is hard work but is a reward and is how we should carry ourselves all the time on and off the clock.

We learn from this example that discipline is a lifestyle taught and learned at an early age. A few characteristics of disciplined people: They take care of their bodies, have clearly define goals, know what their limits are, have boundaries, and keep their routine…  Many of us still make up our beds each morning, respect elders and authority figures, complete task and do not half do anything (if we try something makes us go back and do it right) The lifestyle of discipline will not let how you feel affect what you have to do and disciplined people tend to you keep their word.

Discipline creates habits, habits make routines, and routines become who you are daily (source online definition).  So let us keep our eyes on Christ be consistent and accept the corrections the Lord gives for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he received.  Discipline is a lifestyle. 💕
