Clicking on all Cylinders: The Prosperous Soul
God wants it to go well with us. He wants us to click on all cylinders. He wants our lives to have the new car smell, feel, ride, and the revelation of the paid-in-full title Jesus gave us. He wants us to have a prosperous soul. Our scripture for today says, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John 2 The soul includes your mind, will, emotions, intellect, and imagination. Let’s take a quick look at these attributes.
The Mind: The Word of God says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” How do we have the mind of Christ? We study His Word, find out what He is saying, come to a place where we know His ways, like Moses not just His acts Psalms 103:7 or Like Jesus in John 5:19 “Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. “My dad used to say to us when we acted contrary to his training “I know what’s wrong with you! Your mind is not right”. Roman 12:2 says, “Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.”
The Will: We talked about the will of God last week. We have to do everything decently and in order, and our words, desires, and actions must align with God’s will.
Our emotions can take us on a rollercoaster ride if allowed. Let your child or spouse… be an hour late getting home, and they don’t answer their phone. Or we get an unexpected bill, and your daughter is going to college in a month, and you got approved for a new home. Or something as simple as hearing the boss wants to see you in the morning. Just remember to rejoice in the Lord but be anxious for nothing. WebMD says, “Emotional health is one aspect of mental health. It is your ability to cope with both positive and negative emotions, which includes your awareness of them. Emotionally healthy people have good coping mechanisms for negative emotions, and they also know when to reach out to a professional for help.”
Intellect: For intellect, let go to King Solomon and the book of Proverbs 1:1-4 in the Contemporary English Version “These are the proverbs-of King Solomon of Israel, the Son of David. Proverbs will teach you wisdom and self-control and how to understand sayings with deep meanings. You will learn what is right and honest and fair. From these, an ordinary person can learn to be smart, and young people can gain knowledge and good sense.”
Imagination: God has blessed all of us with the power of imagination for whatever walk of life we are in. Imagination is powerfully used for good and evil. In Genesis 11, we find the account of the tower of Babel, “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” From Roebling, who designed the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. To the 300 uses for the peanut by George Washington Carver. Imagination was at work. In an article by Kevin McClintock, it said, “Carver often attributed many of his greatest discoveries and successes not to science but to God.” God fine-tune our skill sets and imagination to see witty inventions and new ideas.
God wants us to have the prosperous soul mentioned in the scriptures, full of joy and love that knows it is in the perfect will of God. Where we daily function with the mind of Christ with emotions in check, clicking on all cylinders. 💕
