Everything is better with Jesus!

December 22, 2024

One of my favorite scriptures is from Isaiah 9: 6-7

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The word unto means or carries a sense of purpose or direction. So the unto us a child is born tells and assures us that this child has a distinct purpose just for us. He is a gift.  Unto us a Son is given; a son has a father he belongs to a family but this father our heavenly Father decides to give His son to us.  This qualifies as the value of the gift; it is priceless.  My mother recently lost her only son to sickness. The pain on her face and that echoed from her mouth when they pronounced him dead shook me to my core.  Our children are priceless, and who is willing to give them away in health or sickness or for any situation?  But God loved the World so much that he gave us the precious gift of Jesus Christ, this act expressed his love for humanity.

What do we have in this gift?

When someone gives you a gift, you just accept and receive it.  Check out Ephesians 2:8-9 TPT “For by grace you have been saved by faith. Nothing you did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the love gift from God that brought us to Christ! So no one will ever be able to boast, for salvation is never a reward for good works or human striving.” The gift of Jesus being born is unlike any other gift it provides us a better life here on earth. Through the birth of Christ, we come into a new divine order. It is right there in the balance of our opening scripture: “And the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” But it goes further than that this special gift, when received, gives us the power to become the sons of God which entitles us to divine health, no lack, the blessing of the Lord that maketh rich and adds no sorrow, a heart for the kingdom of God, a personal intercessor and more John 1:12,  I Peter 2:24, Proverbs 10:22, Hebrews 7:25 and eternal life when this life is over down here. See, everything is better with Jesus!

Christmas Day

Reflecting on the upcoming Christmas Day celebration, we must be careful not to look and celebrate/not celebrate through the lens of our current situation but embrace the day for what it really is: the day our redeemer is born.   When the angels announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds in Luke chapter two, they said, “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”  The Christmas Day celebration is a holy day, and its focus should be honoring God and the ultimate gift He gave us.

Let’s not forget, everything is truly better with Jesus! This simple yet profound truth should guide our thoughts and actions not just during the Christmas season, but every day of our lives. This season, while there may be personal challenges and the holiday blues for some, let’s change our perspective. Let’s find hope and joy in this wonderful holiday, and most importantly, let’s thank God for the gift of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Merry Christmas!
