Keep Talking, Lord Jesus!

As we approach the height of the holiday season, Christmas is 15 days away. The new year is just 22 days out. Let’s listen, adjust, do, and respond to the Word of God and what the Spirit of God is saying,

We have been teaching the children out of Matthew chapter six for our community outreach. This chapter is a continuation of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus is speaking to a multitude in this message, also called the Beatitudes or proclamations of our King. Proclamations provide essential information given by one in authority on the right and wrong way to do things.

 Giving

Giving is a heart condition; it is not always money, but that is included. Jesus is saying here, give to people in need. You don’t have to look far to find them; those in need are all around us, locally and worldwide. Matthew 6:3-4 says, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Don’t forget your tithes and offerings to the Lord either.

Prayer

Not one day should go by that we do not pray. Matthew 6:6 says, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Also, Jesus talks about forgiveness as He talks to the people on prayer. Verses 14-15 tells us “14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

We started teaching the Lord’s Prayer in this chapter and Psalms 23 to the children in the outreach ministry, and just as an example, we asked all the adults in the room to recite these prayers, and from age 80+ and below, they all knew them and said they learned them as children. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN TO PRAY.

Fasting

This biblical practice is for you. It brings your body under authority, helps remove the noise in your mind, helps with focus, heightens your spiritual decrement, and helps us hear God. It is between you and God but can be done corporately. Matthew 6:17-18 NIV “But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

The best treasury or Bank:

The Bank of Heaven is the only Bank that is fully insured. We must build our lives on eternal things. Matthew 19-21 “19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Where is your alliance?

Remember, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24

Worry:

Worrying solves nothing! “31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:31-34

Read Matthew chapter six this week; note it is all in red letters reminding us that this is Jesus Christ speaking. Jesus taught these timeless messages for us to recite and live by. They as principles, increase our love, hope, faith, dependence on God, and compassion for others. Keep talking, Lord Jesus! 💕
