Lord, Deliver Me!

01 Oct Lord, Deliver Me!

Lord, Deliver Me!

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Luke 4:18-19

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; Psalm 34:17-19

Jesus Our Savior

1 John 3:8 it says, “…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Our Sin Nature

Our sinful nature comes from the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden that gave the devil the title deed to the earth, and that sinful nature has been passed down to all born Romans 5:12. But God had a plan of redemption for us. Jesus pays that price for us by dying for our sins and getting out of the grave with all power, and the Holy Spirit is the comforter, the agent in the earth that rests and abides in all that accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. I mentioned the need for salvation because it is through salvation we can gain access to deliverance.

Deliverance

You may not need deliverance, which is fine, but you may know the person or place that does, the scripture documents accounts for both. The nation Israel asked for deliverance many times. Deliverance means to rescue or set free. Things happen in life, and we make mistakes; even leadership makes mistakes and/or has challenges that we can’t explain, but you know it is demonic sometimes. The man who brought his son to Jesus to cast the devil out of him in Mark 9:14-29, Or health issues like the woman the issue of blood for 12 years Luke 8:43-48. Or addiction problems, my cousin tells the story of a guy who, every time he got high, asked God to help him. She missed seeing him, and after years, she saw him, and he said God delivered him, and he had been clean for years. Mental problems, like the man in the tombs Luke 8:26-39… We think things are so far gone that there is no help for the situation, not so with God. I remember a young man in prison who had several years on his sentence remaining, and after he received a Word from the Lord that he would not serve the full term, he got released. I have attended many deliverance services, and as a minister praying for people, I have seen it manifest. Ask the Lord for Deliverance; He wants to break every chain.

Let’s look at a few things that are involved in deliverance:

  • To gain deliverance, we must confess any sin not confessed and repent, see sin give the devil the opening to come in and remain if unconfessed. 1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • We must forgive Mark 11:25-26, Believe Matthew 9:28,
  • We must have a prayer life. Jesus told his disciples, “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting” Mark 9:29.
  • Warfare and fight the good fight of faith– Hebrews 11:6 & Ephesians 6:11 One pastor said Prayer is toward God, and Warfare is against the enemy.
  • Learn to bind and loose Matthew 18:18 – Jesus said to his disciples, “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Maintaining your deliverance:

  • Remember deliverance must be maintained. Just a few things to remember
  • Stay in and under the Word of God consistently, read your Bible, and attend church services.
  • 2 Timothy 2:15 & Hebrew 10:25
  • Be a worshiper – John 4:23-24
  • Walk in the spirit and not the flesh – Romans 8
  • Stay humble and fully committed to God – James 4:7
  • Keep a grateful heart – 1 Thessalonians 5:16- 22
  • Walk in the authority of the believer – Act 1:8 & Luke 10:19

Many communities, ministries and churches have deliverance support. Pray to locate one, find materials on the topic, and know that Christ is the Answer and He is our deliverer.
