Obedience: The Ticket to the Blessing

But I did say this, commanded this: “Obey me. Do what I say and I will be your God and you will be my people. Live the way I tell you. Do what I command so that your lives will go well.” Jeremiah 7:23 MSG

Obedient to Go. – Abraham did it! “God told Abram: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.  I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous you’ll be a blessing. I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.”  So, Abram left just as God said,” Genesis 12: 1-4 MSG 

Many of us have been led by God to leave a city, job, church, teams… and we’re blessed by being obedient. I have left my job and church on the Lords leading. Leaving the church was harder, because I loved the Word that was being taught, the fellowship, the people, and it was close to my house. What I learned from being obedient to go was that God was preparing me for the future and the change was necessary.

Obedient to Wait. – One of the characteristics of waiting is that it increases our faith and trust in God. No one said waiting is comfortable or easy, but if God says wait, we need to wait. The word wait in Hebrew and Greek means to hope, to look for, or to expect. King Saul did not wait on Samuel, the last judge and first prophet to come and lost his kingship. Read 1 Samuel 13-1-14. Moments after King Saul moved, and did the wrong thing Samuel shows up and says in verse 13 “And Samuel said to Saul, “Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel forever.”  

Obedient to Stay! – The Apostles did!  “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.” Acts 1:4 We have stay in faith for what we are believing God for. Also, stay diligent in the training of our children in the things of God, to be obedient and stay in school. In 2020, there were 2.0 million status dropouts between the ages of 16 and 24, and the overall status dropout rate was 5.3 percent. (Source National Center for Education Statistic)

There is a lot at stake when we disobey. One of my best friend’s son lost his life being disobedient, his mother told him to come straight home from school. Do not go anywhere come straight home. He disobeyed his mother and ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time and is no longer with us. Or do not buy that item now wait. Guess what, the car was discounted by thousands, or your income changed, and it would have been a burden and not a blessing.  

Be willing to obey God. The good of the land is yours when you are obedient.  Hearing and obeying is also the highest form of the anointing. We have to make a decision, have a willing heart and stay obedient to God. Isaiah 1:19-20 says it like this “If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. 

Obedience is the ticket to the blessing. 

Obeying God should be done with joy knowing that God will never ask us to do anything that he does not help us accomplish. The Word of God says, “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” We must always do what God tells us to do. 💕
