All My Life You Have Been Faithful!

Today is Rosh Hashanah it is the Jewish New Year. A two-day holiday and it is considered a time to reflect and repent in anticipation of the upcoming year.   Many who celebrate this Jewish holiday have the custom of refraining from eating anything, which is sour, bitter or tart. Instead, they focus on sweet foods, symbolizing the desire to have a sweet year, blessings and abundance. (Source Chabad.org)

For our devotion, this week let us focus on some of the sweet things God has been to us and as this Jewish holiday suggest anticipate more sweet things to come into our lives.  I woke up this morning with the song “Goodness of God” playing in my heart.   The lyrics say “And all my life You have been faithful And all my life you have been so, so good…” The three things below are the start of my sweet things list.

Faithfulness of God

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9 NIV

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews10:23 NIV

Protection of God

Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.       Psalm 31:19-20 and Psalm 91 NKJV

Goodness of God

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousnessPsalm 145:5-7 NKJV

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5 NKJV

Grab or bake something sweet today (only if your health allows) even dipping a slice of apple in honey is fine and as you eat it remember how sweet our Lord and Savior Jesus is and that All Your Life He Has Been Faithful.
