Who Do You Love?
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7
Our devotion today is from the book of Revelation where Jesus is speaking to the Seven Churches the message is personal, specific to the church He is talking to, prophetic and a warning.
The first church Jesus addresses is the church at Ephesus he reviews their works Revelation 2:3 NIV “I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.”
Jesus also condemned them Revelation 2:4-5 NIV says, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” This church as Dr. David Jeremiah says is loveless, works with no heart in it.
We cannot get loveless for any reason, at any time especially when we are working under the banner of Christ. Let us not lose sight of who our first love should be Christ Jesus! Jesus continues in verse five “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Every now and then even your car needs a tune up for optimal performance so as Jesus said stop and consider…
One of the great and wonderful things about God is how He always giving us opportunities for restoration verse 7 says “Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. I’m about to call each conqueror to dinner. I’m spreading a banquet of Tree-of-Life fruit, a supper plucked from God’s orchard.” Moreover, Jesus wants us all at that dinner.
This message is to Encourage, Shake, and Steady our course so that we are found/become that overcomer that will partake of the Tree of Life.
